As defined by the 1894 Act Town and parish councils has the power to precept (tax) their residents to support their operations and to carry out local projects.

The finance committee meets on a regular basis to discuss all matters effecting the budget for the year and to discuss grant application as they fall.



The Council can award grants under the Local Government Act 1972 section 137.

Grants are usually considered for community buildings and sports projects plus voluntary organisations and youth groups, which are in the interests of the parish and will benefit them in a manner commensurate with the expenditure.
All applications are considered on their
individual merits.

The final decision on assessment of applications and the level of any award offered lies with the Council.
