FINANCE
As defined by the 1894 Act Town and parish councils has the power to precept (tax) their residents to support their operations and to carry out local projects.
The finance committee meets on a regular basis to discuss all matters effecting the budget for the year and to discuss grant application as they fall.
Grants
The Council can award grants under the Local Government Act 1972 section 137 and other powers such as section 133 for
community buildings and LGA 1976 (Misc Provisions) for sports projects. Voluntary (not for profit) organisations may apply for grants which will be considered and granted commensurate with the expenditure.
All applications are considered on their individual merits.
